Case Results

Attorney General Tobacco Litigation. Richard Ieyoub, Attorney General, ex rel State of Louisiana v. The American Tobacco Company, et al, CA No. 96-1209, Calcasieu Parish, State of Louisiana, 14th JDC; Ieyoub ex rel. State of La. v. American Tobacco Co., 1996 WL 544210 (W.D.La., Jul 16, 1996) (NO. CIV. A. 96-0908) Mr. Gayle was the project manager for the case which recovered $4.6 billion for the State of Louisiana. The case was the lead case for the several states on the issue of insurance coverage. The Louisiana case involved the law of four countries, international law, and was prosecuted in five different venues against 200 defendants.

In Re Georgia Gulf Fire Litigation Mr. Gayle is counsel representing hundreds of clients in this settled chemical release arising from a fire at a regional refinery that resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement.

Thibodeaux v. ConocoPhillips, et al. No. 03-481, Calcasieu Parish, State of Louisiana. Mr. Gayle was counsel representing more than 4,000 in this settled chemical release arising from a sulfur dioxide release at a regional refinery that resulted in a settlement of nearly $70 million.

Thomas v. Conoco, Inc., et al, No. 99-5078, Calcasieu Parish, State of Louisiana. Mr. Gayle was counsel representing over 250 plaintiffs in this settled massive toxic tort case arising out of an ethylene dichloride spill from a chemical plant pipeline.

Unnamed Plaintiff v.Conoco, Inc., et al, Calcasieu Parish, State of Louisiana. Mr. Gayle was counsel for an individual that suffered a lung injury as a result of a chemical exposure resulting in a multi-million dollar settlement.

Ford v. Elsbury, 32 F.3d 931, 30 Fed.R.Serv.3d 777 (5th Cir.(La.), Sep 09, 1994) (NO. 93-5365). Mr. Gayle represented a corporate client and its insurer seeking recovery for property damages arising from an explosion after the catastrophic failure of a high pressure vessel.

Numerous individual cases and settlements. For example,

Guillory v. Guillory, Mr. Gayle represented and abused spouse who was awarded more than $450,000 after being severely beaten by her ex-husband causing severe and permanent emotional, psychological and physical injuries.

Kibodeaux v. Progressive Ins. Co. 4 So.3d 222, 2008-791 (La.App. 3 Cir. 2/4/09) Mr. Gayle successfully settled a case for his client after winning at trial and on appeal proving that the Parish was responsible for actions of its inspector.

Moore v. Acadian Ambulance Air Med 983 So.2d 989, 2007-1402 (La.App. 3 Cir. 5/28/08) Mr. Gayle successfully recovered damages for Mrs. Moore and her husband from an ambulance company when she was injured as a passenger in the ambulance that was struck from the rear by another vehicle.

Venissat v. St. Paul Fire & Marine Ins. Co. 968 So.2d 1063, 2006-987 (La.App. 3 Cir. 8/15/07) Mr. Gayle successfully recovered damages for Mr. Venissat after he was in a car accident with a sheriff's deputy.
